Librarian Leaves University $4M And They’re Spending It On… Hint It’s NOT Books (VIDEO)

While some libraries have withered into obscurity, others have blossomed. For instance, the Dimond Library at the University of New Hampshire. Thanks to the unconditional love shown to it by its late cataloger, Robert Morin, who died last year at the age of 77 and left a whopping $4 million to his Alma mater.

A humble and reserved fellow, Morin was a lover of everything literary. He spent almost 50 years of his life painstakingly catering to the Dimond Library. He made it a point to read every book published in the US from 1930 to 1940, excluding children’s books, textbooks, and books about cooking and technology.”

Morin had reached the books published in 1938, the year of his birth, before he passed away. He was also passionate about movies and saw more than 22,000 videos from 1979 to 1997 – or the amount of YouTube cat videos you see in a year – garnering knowledge as he went.

For someone who lived a simple and quiet life, he quietly amassed $4 million. Out of the $4 million Morin donated to the university, $100,000 will go to his cherished Dimond Library and will be utilized to offer scholarships to work-study students, support staff members who continue their studies in library science, and renovate and upgrade one of the library’s multimedia rooms. As for the rest of his contribution, $1 million will go toward a video scoreboard at the school’s new football stadium and another $2.5 million will help establish a career center for students and alumni on campus which is also an online college.

It is truly a heartwarming gesture that encapsulates Morin’s love towards literary pursuit. It is common knowledge that reading books makes a person liberal towards others. Maybe Morin’s intention was to open people’s hearts and souls towards fellow humans. And he seems to have accomplished just that!
