That Time Donald Trump SLAMMED Mexico’s ‘Corrupt Court System’ (TWEET)

So, in case you haven’t heard by this point, Republican Presidential nominee Donald J. Trump has some issues with Mexico and with Mexicans. He’s called them rapists, he’s called them criminals, and today he is meeting with their president Enrique Peña Nieto, because who wouldn’t love to try a little damage control after a year of insults?

The irony isn’t lost on Hillary Clinton, who had her staff compile and share Trump’s list of Tweets during the past two years. If you thought Donald’s insulting diatribe against our southern neighbors started during his campaign, well, you would be wrong. Here is a Tweet from 2015:

And where is Donald J. Trump today? In Mexico. With the system he called corrupt. And who, he said, he doesn’t want to do business with. I guess that went out the window when he decided he was going to be building a wall along the entire shared border, and make Mexico pay for it.

Read the responses to the Tweet, too, if you have a little time. He did not get a whole lot of sympathy from his adoring public then, either.

Clinton is having lots of fun with this one. Here is a statement from her website:

“Donald Trump is headed to Mexico to meet with the country’s president, Enrique Peña Nieto. If you’re surprised by that news—well, you’re not alone. After all, Trump announced his campaign for president by calling Mexican immigrants “rapists” and criminals (“and some, I assume, are good people,” he added generously). Trump has been publicly disparaging Mexican immigrants—and the entire nation of Mexico—for years. And years. And years.”

She’s not particularly impressed with the trip overall, either. Dismissing the trip as no more than a “photo-op”, she wants Trump to know something about international diplomacy.

“That is not how it works.”

Mexicans aren’t particularly thrilled with his trip, either.
