Father Admits To Orchestrating Car Crash To Kill His Child (VIDEO)

When Nathan Weitzel, 29, of Centennial, Colorado felt as though fatherhood was “too big of a responsibility,” he orchestrated a car crash in an attempt to kill his 2-year-old son, Isaiah, according to CBS News.

Just before noon on Sunday, August 21, Weitzel took his son to a local park with intentions of it being Isaiah’s last day alive.

As the toddler played in the playground, his father watched – thinking of a way to kill him.

After deciding that a car crash would be the best option, Weitzel put his son in the car without securing the child in the car seat and drove off, looking for a place to crash.

The father was reportedly driving between 65 and 75 mph before purposely ramming into a parked car in an unnamed neighborhood.

Witness Cindy Rosa, who also called 911, said:

“There were no screech marks. There were no hitting brakes. Just this horrible sound.”

When emergency responders arrived at the scene, the father tried to slit his own throat with piece of glass, but firefighters were able to stop him.

Not long after, Weitzel admitted to police officials that he orchestrated the car crash in an attempt to kill his son.

Investigators said:

The reason he wanted to kill Isaiah was because he did not think he was man enough to raise a child.”

When the toddler’s mother, Nancy Lopez, learned that Weitzel admitted to trying to kill her son, she said:

“There are no words. I just fell to the floor and I started crying and I kept saying, ‘my baby boy, my poor boy.’”

Fortunately, the boy survived the orchestrated car crash, but he did sustain a “broken leg, a concussion, cut on his head, and a ripped muscle in his neck.”

Isaiah was transported to the Children’s Hospital Colorado.

He now has to wear a body cast.

Lopez said:

“He’s such a strong boy and I thank God every day that he’s alive and keeps healing and hopefully, eventually, he’ll be able to walk again.”

Police arrested the father at the scene and transported him to the Arapahoe County Jail.

Weitze was charged with “attempted first-degree murder, child abuse, assault, criminal mischief, possession of a controlled substance, and vehicular assault.”

Isaiah is now recovering at home, but he requires around the clock care.

Lopez will be out of work for 10 weeks while she cares for her son. She has since set up a Go Fund Me account to help with her son’s recovery.
