Rick Perry Wants To Dance For Veterans This Primetime Season (TWEET)

Reality television worked for Donald Trump, but will it work for Rick Perry? Well, only if he knows how to move his feet.

Yep, that’s right, former Republican Texas Governor, Rick Perry, will join the newest season of Dancing With The Stars this Fall.

Perry shared a picture of himself and his professional dance partner, Emma Slater, on Twitter today. He hopes his dance moves draw attention to veteran’s issues.

Apparently this is what the former presidential candidate meant by “…veterans need a champion?”

As former Governor of Texas, Perry helped create the Texas Veterans Initiative, College Credit for Heroes, and Veterans Affair Strike Force. He also signed multiple pieces of legislation granting veterans property tax cuts and in-state tuition.

But, I’m curious as to how the Samba or the Foxtrot will bring awareness to veteran issues?

Perry is not the first Texas Republican to join DWTS. Former House Majority Leader, Tom DeLay, appeared on season 9 back in 2009, but withdrew from the show due to stress fractures in his feet.

The full cast of the dancing show was announced on Good Morning America.

Other famous names we can anticipate to bust a move this season are 12 time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte, U.S. Final Five gymnast Laurie Hernandez, wanna-be rapper turned home renovator Vanilla Ice, and the favorite Brady Bunch daughter, Marcia Brady (or Maureen McCormick as she’s known as in real life).

The 23rd season of DWTS will start September 12, almost exactly a year after Perry suspended his presidential campaign.

Ah, we see what you did there.
