Stephen King Just Ripped Maine Governor LePage A New One, And It’s So Awesome!

Maine’s unhinged Tea Party Governor, Paul LePage, has been in the news yet again this week for an obscenity laced voicemail he left a state legislator he thought had called him a racist. In that message, he told Democratic State Rep. Drew Gattine:

“Mr. Gattine, this is Gov. Paul Richard LePage. I would like to talk to you about your comments about my being a racist, you co**sucker. I want to talk to you. I want you to prove that I’m a racist. I’ve spent my life helping black people and you little co**sucker, socialist co**sucker . You — I need you to — just friggin’. I want you to record this and make it public because I am after you. Thank you.”

And now novelist and Maine native son Stephen King is weighing in on LePage’s hateful comments, tweeting out this note Saturday:

In January, shortly after LePage made blatantly racist comments about drug dealers named “D-Money”  coming to Maine and impregnating “young, white girls,” King weighed in and noted:

“One must admit LePage has elevated assholery to a level far past the extraordinary and into a rarified sphere that might be termed divine.”

And in March LePage attempted to slag King and his wife, Tabitha, by saying they had moved from Maine as a way to avoid paying taxes. To that accusation, King wrote:

“Tabby and I pay every cent of our Maine state income taxes, and are glad to do it. We feel, as Governor LePage apparently does not, that much is owed from those to whom much has been given. We see our taxes as a way of paying back the state that has given us so much. State taxes pay for state services. There’s just no way around it. Governor LePage needs to remember there ain’t no free lunch.”

Apparently Governor LePage isn’t even smart enough to know that you never ever pick a fight with a person who uses words to make a living. Bravo to Stephen King!
