Authorities in Texas have arrested a man, Davie Dauzat, 23, after he allegedly beheaded his wife, and placed her head in the refrigerator just two hours after police were sent to their home for a welfare check, according to CBS News.
In the early morning of Thursday, August 25, Dauzat contacted his estrange mother and brother via telephone, stating “weird statements” and asking “funny questions.”
His brother – whose name has not been released – was not sure if his odd behavior was drug related, but he contacted police and requested a welfare check.
The following day, police went to Dauzat’s mobile home on the 4300 block of Concord Road in Bellmead, and spoke with him outside, along with his 21-year-old wife Natasha Dauzat.

The police stated that:
“There was no indication from the couple that either of them was in distress or in need of police intervention at that time.”
“They both appeared calm and expressed their curiosity why the police were there.”
Bellmead police left the home but returned nearly two hours later and made a gruesome discovery.
The man reportedly beheaded his wife and placed her head in the refrigerator while their two children – aged one and two – were in the home.
Police arrested Dauzat on first-degree murder charges.
A neighbor, James Lee, stated that he was sitting on his porch, watching as emergency responders scoured the area for evidence.
Lee said:
“Emergency responders and rescue people come out here from time to time trying to help people with medical issues, and of course Bellmead police out here for fights, but we’ve never had this many police out here at once.”
Dauzat is being held at the McLennan County Jail on a set bond of $500,000.
The couple’s two children are in protective custody.
The Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Rangers are currently investigating the incident.
