Dear America, We’re Sorry For Our Idiot Governor (VIDEO)

In a hilarious response to the recent vile language of Governor Paul LePage (R-Me), the Portland Press Herald wrote a letter of apology to the nation.

The Boston Globe reports that the newspaper’s editorial board ran an open letter to America to apologize for putting the potty mouthed bully in a position of power. The letter reads in part:

“Dear America: Maine here. Please forgive us – we made a terrible mistake. We managed to elect and re-elect a governor who is unfit for high office.

He has a gruff exterior and blunt way of talking that some of us find refreshing, but he has shown again and again that he governs by grudge, and uses his power to beat up on people who cannot fight back.”

Its a pretty unusual step for a major newspaper to take, publicly apologizing to the entire nation for the actions of the governor. The monumentally awful LePage has earned it, though.

He recently went on a profanity laced rant against a Democratic state leader who criticized him as racist. The tirade was recorded on voice mail, and the Governor actually challenged the recipient to make the call public, which he did. Hoo, boy.

The call used references to male body parts, affection for one’s mother and a few other nasty things that I can’t describe here.

What a guy.

So why did the Maine Democrat call LePage a racist? Because he claimed that the majority of drug dealers being arrested in the state are Black or Hispanic, that’s why. He added that they all come from Connecticut or New York, and they stay long enough to get Maine’s white girls pregnant before they go home for more drugs.

LePage is an ignorant bigot, that much is clear. It’s difficult to see who could be drawn to someone so overtly hateful, racist, angry, and self-serving.

Which reminds me, Republic presidential nominee Donald Trump loves the guy. He recently hired LePage’s twenty something daughter to run his Maine campaign.

Sigh.

The Portland newspaper ended its apology to the nation this way:

On the bright side, America, Le- Page isn’t going to be governor forever, and when his successor takes office in 2019, Mainers of all political parties will have to work together to fix the damage he has done to our reputation. We hope that this person will be a leader who will welcome people of all races to live in Maine, and invest in our wonderful state.

Until then, please accept our apology. We’ll try not to do it again.

I hope the rest of us don’t end up writing a letter like this to the whole world a year from now.
