So Steve Bannon, the big kahuna of famously right-wing Breitbart News, has joined the campaign of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Imagine that.
The man who calls the media “dishonest” has hired a media guy as the CEO of his campaign.
And not just any “media guy,” either. Trump has hired Steve Bannon to run his national campaign, now that his previous campaign manager was fired because of illegal ties to Russian money. Which happened after he replaced the campaign manager before him, who was fired for assaulting a journalist and being a foul mouthed bully.
Now Mediaite reports that Bannon’s notoriously anti-Muslim Breitbart News has been operating from office space owned by (are you ready?) an Egyptian Muslim.
This whole hilariously disgusting bit of information came to light when it was learned that Bannon is registered to vote in Florida. A state where he absolutely does not live. While he apparently owns an empty piece of property there, his body does not reside in that state. This means that his voter registration is, to put it bluntly, illegal.
As this bit of interesting Trumpian news was hitting the internet, it also became known that Bannon and his Breitbart staff use office space that is called the “Breitbart embassy” in Washington, D.C. This 2.4 million dollar townhouse is located right near the Supreme Court building. Pretty sweet location.
The super conservative Breitbart news gang apparently works out of basement office space in the ritzy townhouse. Yes. They are down in the dark regions of the Muslim owned building.
According to tax records, the building is owned by one Mostafa El-Gindy, an Egyptian businessman and former member of parliament. El-Gindy is not exactly a fundamentalist, given that he operates cruise boats out of the upper Nile region and owns properties in places like Washington, D.C. He has publicly stated his disdain for the Muslim Brotherhood.
Still, the man is a Muslim who is renting office space to one of the most anti-Islamic newsmen in the U.S.
El-Gindy is a man who obviously believes in making money. Banner is a man who obviously believes that anything he does to help himself is a good thing. No moral judgements attached.
So you have to wonder how these guys reconcile themselves to helping the campaign of a man who promises to ban all Muslims from entering the United States.
Don’t you find this just a little bit awkward?
Trump’s campaign is being run by a guy who heads an anti-Muslim media outlet located in a townhouse owned by a Muslim.
A townhouse owned by a Muslim who would be banned from entering or living in the U.S. if Donald Trump got elected.
Call me cynical, but I think there’s a whole boatload of bullsh*t here. I think Trump’s campaign is all about keeping the money in the hands of the people who already have it. His anti-Muslim rants are meant to whip up his base. They’re not meant to be actual policy positions.
