Rachel Maddow RIPS Trump Campaign Over Ridiculous Health Letter (VIDEO)

On Wednesday night, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow landed an interview with the Kellyanne Conway, the newest campaign manager for Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump. The two spoke for almost the entirety of Maddow’s show, and Maddow did not take it easy on Conway (who had a rough few days during her last circuit of interviews).

One of the best portions of the interview came with questions about Trump’s health and the medical report that his doctor released in December of 2015. Harold Bornstein, a gastroenterologist, claims in the letter to have been Trump’s doctor for thirty-five years and proceeds to spout superlatives about the candidate, even at one point claiming:

“If elected, Mr. Trump, I can state unequivocally, will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.”

The letter barely seems real, and Maddow even cites it as “absurd.” She tells Conway:

“We’ve contacted the doctor who wrote [the letter] to try to get some background. Turns out he was using a medical credential on his name that he’s no longer entitled to use. Like there’s a lot of really not upstanding things about what we know there.”

Maddow points out several other issues with the letter. A gastroenterologist is a doctor who specializes in the stomach and intestines, and Maddow asks Conway why Trump would need a digestive doctor for 35 years. She also points out that the letter is full of typos. Bornstein begins the letter with the greeting “To Whom My Concern.” He also claims a recent medical exam on Trump “showed only positive results.” In medical language, that would mean that every test showed something bad in Trump’s body, as a “positive” result means something is there that should not be.

Conway tried to deflect much of the criticism, assuring Maddow that Trump has doctors and physicians, claiming that Trump’s campaign stamina shows what an effective leader he would be, and telling Maddow that she would pass along her request to get a less “absurd” doctor’s letter released.

Trump and his campaign are trying to make Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s health a major issue in this race. Maybe Trump’s health should be brought a little more into question, as the only backing he has is from a doctor who uses credentials he is no longer allowed to use and incorrectly uses common medical language.
