Donald Trump Is Bolstering Russian Confidence: Has Ukrainian’s Scared Silly (Video)

With the November presidential election rapidly approaching, Americans get really consumed with politics and how the president can directly affect people’s lives. Even more so in this election, where there could not be a greater contrast between Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

What we sometimes fail to remember is that other countries are watching as well and are anxiously awaiting the election day results. Nowhere is this more true than the countries of Russia and Ukraine, where tensions are high and conflict is paramount.

The daily political happenings in America are reported on by news stations across both countries and are having a major impact within the region. What makes it even more difficult is that both countries are supporting different candidates for president.

The Ukraine is staunchly pro-Hillary while Russia, and Vladimir Putin, is in support of Trump for the presidency. Which clearly means, that no matter who wins the United States presidential election, tensions between Russia and Ukraine will likely remain for a long period of time.

The outcome of the presidency is especially prescient to those in the Ukraine who feel that Donald Trump would seek to become an ally with Russia and Putin. Previous Republican presidential candidates John McCain and Mitt Romney were vigorously in defense of Ukraine’s independence and were critical of Russian aggression within the region.

There has been no such rhetoric coming from the mouth of Donald Trump. He even goes as far as praising Putin and dismissing the Russian annex of Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula. Natalia Gumenyuk, head of a Ukrainian TV channel called Hromadske, points out that Trump’s rhetoric has struck fear in the hearts of the Ukrainian people. She said:

“Trump’s contradictory decisions and the illogical views of some of his supporters resemble a mirror of Russia.”

This mirror of Russia is something that the Ukrainian people would desperately like to avoid. If the most powerful office in the world is held by a Putin-supporter, it could mean that Russia would be more engaged in Ukrainian affairs than ever before.

Gumenyuk also commented on Donald Trump’s pro-Putin stance by saying:

“Trump’s entire discourse—not just not challenging the Russian occupation of Crimea but isolationism, conspiracy theories, little respect for the law and the right to bully—it all looks exactly like what the Kremlin has been saying for years.”
