This Dog Is Serving His Third Term As Mayor (VIDEO)

The town of Cormorant, Minnesota has elected a dog to be its mayor for the third time. A nine-year-old Great Pyrenees named Duke is their mayor.

Resident Karen Nelson said:

“I don’t know who would run against him because he’s done such great things for the community.”

She added:

“His companion is my little black Chihuahua, Sparky – they go round together in David’s truck. It used to be like ‘Homeward Bound’ when I had my cat, Milo.”

Duke was first elected in 2014. His owner, David Rick, said:

“Three years ago, it happened by accident, it was a write-in vote. You pay a dollar and you can vote.”

Cormorant is not the only town to elect animal politicians. A small town called Lajitas, Texas, elected a beer-drinking goat, Mayor Clay Henry III, to be their mayor. Unfortunately, Henry is no longer with us, but you can find him in stuffed form at the local stores.

A Labrador/Rottweiler mix was the mayor of Sunol, California for a decade. He passed in the 1990s, and they have a statue of him in the town.

In 1997, the small town of Talkeetna, Alaska elected Stubbs the Cat for their mayor. He has been their mayor for 17 years. He got his name because he doesn’t have a tail.

Stubbs even survived an “assassination attempt” in 2013. He was mauled by a dog, but he recovered. He’s also survived being shot with a BB gun and falling into a cold fryer.

These animals need to be further up in the government. I think a dog could do a much better job than Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, could.

Everybody likes dogs. This fact could be used in diplomatic relations. We don’t have to worry about a dog pressing the nuclear bomb button.
