Armed With Dildos, Texas Students Take On Campus Guns Issue (VIDEO)

University of Texas students planned a protest called “Cocks Not Glocks.” The event is aimed at protesting that Texas obscenity laws are more strict then gun control.

On August 1, Senate Bill 11 made it legal for people over 21 to carry a concealed weapon with them inside college classrooms.

In response, organizers Jessica Jin, Anna Lopez, and Kailey Moore have scheduled the Cocks Not Glocks protest for August 24. Students plan to strap gigantic swinging dildos to their backpacks before heading to class.

The event invitation, which is hosted on Facebook reads:

“The State of Texas has decided that it is not at all obnoxious to allow deadly concealed weapons in classrooms, however it DOES have strict rules about free sexual expression, to protect your innocence. “

Texas lawmakers seem to think sex toys pose a greater threat to public safety then guns do. As reported by Vice, guns have been allowed on college campuses since 1995. The difference is that now guns will be allowed inside the classroom.

The protest has an official website which states it is “fighting absurdity with absurdity.”

Organizer Jessica Jin said:

“It’s to help people visualize how ridiculous it would look if everybody in our community were ‘carrying’ [a gun]. Hopefully the dildos will churn up the sense of shock and discomfort that people should feel about guns being everywhere.”

Under SB 11 the university president can designate certain gun free buildings, but a 2/3 vote by the university’s governing board can overturn that decision. Guns are still banned inside private dorm rules. However, visiting family and staff have an exemption to this rule.

While it looks as though Texas’ love of guns will not fade soon. Perhaps their fear of expression of sexuality will be eased by this clever and comical protest.
