What a world we live in! Everyone relies on cell phones the internet for information, communication, business, and commerce. Everyone is therefore at risk of being exploited and exposed because of that reliance.
Even members of the United States Congress aren’t exempt from the threat.
The Huffington Post is reporting that Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (Ca) has sent out a warning to her colleagues in Congress. She has told them to keep their social media accounts away from their families, especially when there are children around.
A recent hack into the U.S. government’s personnel files has lead to the release of personal information including email addresses and other social media contacts. That information was then released to the public by the hackers.

Congresswoman Pelosi says that she has had to handle a flood of “obscene and sick” cell phone calls and text messages after her personal contact information was made public. She has urged her colleagues in Congress to take precautions when using social media in the presence of young family members. She said:
“On a personal note, I was in the air flying from Florida to California when the news broke. Upon landing, I have received scores of mostly obscene and sick calls, voicemails and text messages.”
U.S. intelligence believes that Russia is behind the hacking that has taken place recently. The hacker, who goes by the name “Guccifer 2.0,” was part of the cyber attack on the Democratic National Convention last month. Information about private emails between DNC members was released at that time. The personal information about Democratic lawmakers is the latest piece of the computer hacking. That information includes email addresses, phone numbers and even the names and contact information of the spouses of House Reps.
Russia may have been involved in these attacks out of a desire to help the campaign of Donald Trump. The Republican candidate has had a longstanding mutual admiration thing going with Russian President Vladimir Putin. There is strong evidence of a financial relationship between the struggling millionaire and the struggling Russian government.
It seems to be a perfect match. The fact that the interaction of the Trump Campaign and the Putin regime has resulted in sick, obscene attacks on women in office should be a surprise to absolutely no one in either country.
