Shadow Of Emails Still Haunts Hillary Clinton (VIDEO)

Hillary Clinton cannot seem to escape her lingering email controversy. Critics have raised more questions as a new batch of emails comes to light. These emails, they say, suggest that there may have been a special relationship between the Department of State and the Clinton Foundation while Clinton was still Secretary of State.

New Batch Of Hillary Clinton Emails

On August 9, Judicial Watch released 296 pages of State Department records. Of those pages, there are 44 email exchanges that were not previously turned over to the State Department.

One email shows that Doug Band, a longtime associate of former President Bill Clinton and a current Clinton Foundation employee, emailed Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton’s top aide. The email seems to show Band asking Clinton’s aide to help find a job in the State Department for an unnamed individual:

“It’s important to take care of [redacted].”

Abedin replied:

“We have all had him on our radar. Personnel has been sending him options.”

The redacted name is still a mystery. According to ABC News, the State Department cited privacy concerns. Spokesman Elizabeth Trudeau stated:

“We feel confident that all the rules were followed.”

Another email from Band contains a request to put a Clinton Foundation donor, Gilbert Chagoury, in touch with a State Department official:

“We need Gilbert Chagoury to speak to the substance person re Lebanon. As you know, he’s key guy there…”

Abedin responded:

“It’s Jeff Feltman. I’m sure he knows him. I’ll talk to Jeff.”

According to CNN, Feltman denies ever meeting Chagoury:

“I have never met nor spoken with Mr. Chagoury. I was not aware of the proposal that he speak to me until this email exchange was released, but in any case we never spoke.”

From Clinton Herself

At least one email seems to be from Hillary Clinton herself. A message to Huma Abedin instructing her to “follow up” on a request to fast-track a job for an unnamed individual on the behest of one Lana Moresky:

“When I saw you at the Convention we talked about [redacted] being considered for a position at State. Just wanted you to know that [redacted] has a resume in. Capricia has been wonderful in advising us. I understand things are going very slow on the hiring side. I was hoping you might intervene to make sure [redacted] was taken seriously and considered for a responsible position.”

Hillary forwarded the message to Abedin:

“Can you pls followup and help [redacted]? Let me know.”

Response To The Emails

It certainly seems suspicious. The Clinton campaign, however, denies anything improper took place. According to TIME, Clinton spokesman Josh Schwerin insisted that:

“The right-wing organization behind this lawsuit has been attacking the Clintons since the 1990s and no matter how this group tries to mischaracterize these documents, the fact remains that Hillary Clinton never took action as Secretary of State because of donations to the Clinton Foundation.”

Normally, a reveal like this might seem a bigger deal. In the current political landscape, though, the antics of Donald Trump overshadow all.

The Republican Presidential nominee took some time to shift the spotlight to Hillary. He linked to another article about the emails on his Facebook page, and mused about the revelation on Twitter:

It’s important to keep in mind that while the emails are far from a smoking gun, they shouldn’t be hand-waved either. They show some definite crossover between Clinton’s State Department and the Clinton Foundation. Hopefully, she will be forthcoming about the questions these emails raise, and will not choose to coast by on simply being less despicable than Donald Trump.
