Joe Scarborough is one of the hosts of the MSNBC show, Morning Joe. His co-host, Mika Brzezinski, is more of a liberal and Scarborough describes himself as a “small government” conservative.
On yesterday’s show, Brzezinski said:
“Mark Halperin, everybody, just stop. [Donald Trump] can’t stop. This is proven again and again and again and again. Donald Trump can’t stop himself. He is a train wreck going 1,000 miles an hour. It is about the Republicans around him now. The story is about you. And I don’t mean to have a nasty tone and I say to Paul Ryan, go home and spend some time with your family.”
Scarborough said:
“You’re a Democrat, Mika. You’re a Democrat, let me say this, let me say this OK because it means nothing coming from you, OK? You’re a Democrat.”
The argument started when they were talking about the incident this week with Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump threatening Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
Brzezinski was saying that Paul Ryan needs to be denouncing Trump. Scarborough interjected with his remark about her being a Democrat.
They were both making the same point, but Scarborough insisted that he needed to make the point himself. They quickly reconciled.
Scarborough’s remark makes the Republicans look bad. He just implies that Republicans will not believe or even consider what the Democrats are saying. I’ve experienced this. If we make a good point, they just reply with “You’re a tree hugger!”
Trump’s remarks are scary no matter what party you are in. Threatening your political rival’s life is way beyond mudslinging.
Last week, Brzezinski was trying to appeal to Trump supporters. She was speaking to his supporters and saying that “It’s a scam.” She said:
“But I worry that they don’t understand that they’re being scammed, and they’re being scammed by somebody who’s really good at it, so it’s not like, you know, it’s their fault. But I will say that it’s a scam, what Trump is selling.”
These hosts used to be a little more friendly with Donald Trump. They were caught on a voicemail thanking Trump for donations. Trump told them to “make us all look good” and not ask difficult questions.
