Trump To Celebrate Pulse Shooting Anniversary By Speaking To Anti-LGBT Group (VIDEO)

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will join Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) to address an anti-LGBT group on the two month anniversary of the Pulse nightclub shooting that left 49 people dead and another 53 injured. And they’ll do it just a few blocks away from the epicenter of the tragedy.

The event is titled “Rediscovering God in America” and is sponsored by the American Renewal Project.

According to Right Wing Watch, the group and its founder David Lane is known for extremist anti-LGBT views and promotes evangelical Christian political candidates. The conference center where the conference will take place is frighteningly close to Pulse.

Eliel Cruz is Executive Director of Faith In America, a group that looks to end religious persecution of gays and lesbians. He minced no words regarding Trump’s motivations to attend the event:

“In attending this vehemently anti-LGBT event, Trump continues to show he is truly a danger to the LGBT community… He isn’t savvy enough to understand how he’s being manipulated by the organizers of this conference. It is reported organizers of the event want to ask Trump about how he plans to combat ‘homosexual totalitarianism.’ Trump will probably nod his head and say ‘yes’ to any anti-LGBT requests made at the conference as his campaign is driven by his ego and he’ll do anything, including courting the most anti-LGBT voices, to become president.”

This is just the latest step in Trump’s quest to clinch the evangelical vote. He picked Mike Pence, a noted anti-LGBT politician, as his running mate. In addition, in June Trump help a meeting with evangelical Christian leaders to gain their support.

Marco Rubio is running for a seat in the United States Senate and will also speak at the event. Both men are receiving criticism for their decision to attend the event.

Trump’s track record with the LGBT is spotty at best, and he is accused of waffling back and forth when it suits him. This event should put him firmly on the side of the hate groups and fear mongers.
