Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump seems to have double standards when it comes women. Who he wants as a wife is not how he has raised his own daughter.
Trump has generally been highly unpopular with women. His attitude towards them has disrespectful and demeaning. He made an inappropriate comment regarding a participant on his TV show.
“It must be a pretty picture. You dropping to your knees.”
Trump also went on to make several disparaging comments about Rosie O’ Donnell.
“Rosie O’Donnell is disgusting, both inside and out. If you take a look at her, she’s a slob. How does she even get on television? If I were running The View, I’d fire Rosie. I’d look her right in that fat, ugly face of hers and say, ‘Rosie, you’re fired.”
However, what is interesting is his respect for his daughter Ivanka.
“I am so proud of Ivanka. She is a terrific person, a devoted mother and an exceptional entrepreneur.”
He has praised her business acumen and her ability as a mother. Which is highly contradictory, considering his normal take on women and their role as a mother and wife. There is a certain double standard that Trump believes in. He wants his wife to be someone who simply raises his children.
“I’ll supply funds and she’ll take care of the kids.“
In addition, he said in a Vanity Fair article in 1990 that he did not want to give his wife “negotiable assets.” Implying he did not want his wife to have any power.
“I would never buy Ivana any decent jewels or pictures. Why give her negotiable assets?”
Ivanka, on the other hand, was the person who introduced Trump as the Republican presidential nominee. Normally that would be the role of the significant other – in this case that is Melania.
Trump has even recently has said he would want Ivanka in his cabinet. He has far more respect and ambition for Ivanka, outside a wife and as a mother. A courtesy he has not extended his wife.
