The Devastation We Can Expect If Trump Is Elected

Donald Trump promises to shake things up and help “make America great again,” whatever that means. Bill Maher asserted it means men like Donald Trump want to bring America back to its glory days of the 1950s, which may have been glorious for light complected men of European heritage who owned property but no so much for everybody else.

If people thought that men like George W. Bush and Richard Nixon were disastrous for the United States’ White House then they ought to expect similar results with Trump, who continues to offend the sensibilities of people across the spectrum in America and abroad.

His isolationist and tough-talking foreign policy and trade deals would likely force the working class in America, his base, to suffer even further damage to their wage, housing and income equality. His hostile nature is not going to fly in the global economic world we live in today, where alliances of countries are more important than individual counties alone in the modern era. His economic theories are purely non-sense or not fully explained to put it lightly.

Trump also gets an F in the environment and education issues because he wants to cut funding from there and judging from his Trump University lawsuit scandal and unfavorable ruling in court, it is unclear that his credentials should ever be trusted in the realm of learning.

He wants to cut from the military, but it is unclear where cuts would come from though he says the U.S. should cut ties with NATO and other allies if they don’t serve our interests financially, also saying the military is stretched too far in the globe and costing money.

When it comes to civil rights, Donald Trump, the “50s guy”, as Maher put it, is out of touch with the true diversity of America and the ideals of civil rights movements.

Trump has called for ridiculous actions that are unrealistic in foreign and trade policy matters such as building a wall on the U.S.-Mexican border to keep out illegal immigrants, ban Muslims from entering the country, make unrealistic demands of China and other countries and the list goes on. Many of his actual political opinions have changed, almost overnight in some cases and with consideration of at least some kind in others, such as abortion. Trump also wants to keep the corporate welfare gravy train going and cut taxes for the richest Americans while claiming to be working for the regular guy. The businessman has been subject to several bankruptcies and other mishaps and does not seem to understand economics. Even his supporters like Newt Gingrich say so.

In a nutshell, Trump’s presidency would resemble a perverse soup of fascist and fantastical ideas and plans that end up like his actual businesses: loud, but ineffective and murky. He will not be able to properly negotiate or publicly behave as a public official representing ALL Americans nor would he understand subtleties and nuances of other cultures and systems.

He will not be able to deliver on many of his promises, as is actually true of many business owners and entrepreneurs. But what is good in business is not always so in government, politics and public life. These important qualities aren’t just part of an establishment candidacy, however. Bernie Sanders is proof of that. Sanders has now officially endorsed Trump’s opponent from the Democrats, Hilary Rodham Clinton, though he seemed to have pushed her campaign as far left as possible before doing so.
