NEW POLL From Georgia Shows Race Tilting Toward This Candidate

A just-released poll out of the state of Georgia–which has voted Republican in the Presidential race since 1992–may wind up being a harbinger of things to come as November draws closer. States that were once reliably red are now trending blue thanks to the fact that Donald Trump is the GOP nominee.

Just last week, a poll out of the Peach State showed Clinton beating Trump by four points, but the latest poll out of Georgia now has Clinton up by seven points.

The JMC Analytics poll shows Clinton with a lead of 44 percent to Trump’s 37. Libertarian Gary Johnson was the choice of seven percent of respondents, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein had one percent support. 10 percent of respondents said they were still undecided.

A closer look at the internal numbers done with breakdowns shows exactly why Clinton is surging in Georgia:

  • Among African-Americans, Clinton leads Trump 84 to 6 percent
  • Women prefer Clinton over Trump by a margin of 48 to 35 percent
  • White men are almost evenly split, with Trump only winning them by 1 point, 41-40 percent

Meanwhile, on the national level, a new CNN Poll of Polls has Clinton leading Trump by 10 points, 49 to 39 percent. The CNN Poll of Polls covers polls conducted between July 29 and August 4 and includes the CNN/ORC Poll, the CBS News Poll, the Fox News Poll, the NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll, the Marist/McClatchy Poll, and the ABC News/Washington Post Poll.

No wonder Republicans in down ballot races are getting so nervous.
