The Government Is Releasing GMO Warrior Mosquitos To Kill Zika Mosquitos (VIDEO)

Genetically modified foods, GMOs, have contaminated our foods, such as soy, corn, and dairy, just to name a few. Now, GMOs are taking flight with a new modified mosquito proposed by a biotech firm to kill off Zika and other disease infected mosquitoes.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Veterinary Medicine wrapped up its review Friday of a proposal made by biotech firm, Oxitec. The proposal is to release the franken-skeeters in an island neighborhood north of Key West, but says it will have no significant impacts on the environment.

Well, that’s good to know. Sure there aren’t…

The FDA’s finalized review does not mean Oxitec is free to release its petri dish spawns. Oxitec and its partner, Florida Keys Mosquito Control District, must consider and abide by all local, state, and federal requirements.

You’re probably thinking just like myself, why on Earth would the swampy wetlands of Florida approve more bloodthirsty insects?

Well, according to Oxitec it would release non-biting male Ades aegypti mosquitoes to produce baby vampires genetically programmed to die.

What about the females you should ask? Oxitec says only a small number of biting females are released, and no one has reported any health problems from their bites.

The ‘small number’ the company refers to is 0.2 percent, or a couple thousand, if approximately one million male mosquitoes are released.

This worries speculators because now the ecosystem could fill this void by allowing other, more dominant species to fill its place.

This is the problem! We scientifically create or modify things, like insects, hoping they will overcome the last strain released. When we don’t dot all the “I” or cross the “T” we create a newer and sometimes worse problem, such as another disease, for us humans to worry about.

Oxitec has released the same trial in Cayman Islands, Brazil, Malaysia, and Panama.

According to a 2014 article by Natural News, the robosquitoes caused a state of emergency in Brazil by increasing the number of disease-infected mosquitoes.

Florida, specifically Miami, has already reported 15 non-travel related cases of the Zika virus.
