Planned Parenthood has been the subject of A LOT of controversies this year. Many red states are trying to defund Planned Parenthood or otherwise get rid of them. The GOP has been demonizing this very important organization for years.
This year it started with hacked up, doctored videos made by a pro-life group. They spliced together footage to make it look like Planned Parenthood was selling baby parts. These videos were proven to be false, but that didn’t stop the GOP from using this “evidence” to go after Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood is fighting back, and pissing off the Republicans again with their latest move. Starting Friday, Planned Parenthood said that they will begin registering voters at their clinics, online, or on college campuses.
They are doing this on a bipartisan basis; the campaign is called “My Vote, My Voice.” They will help anyone register “regardless of their background, beliefs, or political ideology.” Here is the website where you can register online.
A Planned Parenthood spokeswoman, Anna Keene, said this:
“If we can’t all participate in our government, we all get cheated. We’re launching the ‘My Vote, My Voice’ campaign to help ensure that every voice is heard and every vote is counted in communities across the country. No matter what your political beliefs are, if you don’t or can’t vote, then you can’t elect officials who will keep your best interests in mind.”
Planned Parenthood officially endorsed Democratic Presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton, during the primary. Clinton said:
“As president, I will always have your back. Defending women’s health means defending access to abortion – not just in theory, but in reality.”
Of course, conservatives are weighing in on this. Life News says:
“In one of Planned Parenthood’s newest disturbing schemes, women now can both register to vote and have their unborn babies aborted in its facilities across the country.”
Republicans keep thinking that Planned Parenthood only does abortions, and they ignore all of the other good services Planned Parenthood provides. They give sex education, pregnancy care, mammograms, birth control, and many other services for both women and men.
