Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s Friendship Just Keeps Getting More Adorable (Tweet)

Vice President Joe Biden wished President Obama a happy birthday on Thursday via Twitter. With his message, he included a picture of the friendship bracelets that he and Obama made for each other.

How do we know that POTUS and the VP actually made these bracelets themselves? Obama recently starred in a video called “5 Things That Are Harder Than Registering To Vote.” One of the five things was making a friendship bracelet. The president appears in the video carefully braiding the threads of the bracelet which would later appear in Biden’s tweet.

Obama has joked in the past about how close he is with Biden. During the 2015 White House Correspondents Dinner, Obama said:

“We’ve gotten so close that in some places in Indiana, they won’t serve us pizza anymore.”

He was referencing the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which would have allowed businesses to refuse service to gay customers.

The friendship between Obama and Biden is not just a farce meant to garner laughs and ‘aww’s. Biden revealed in 2013 that he and Obama spend four to five hours together every day. They’ve also frequently played golf and attended lots of sports games together.

When Biden’s son, Beau, who was suffering from brain cancer, had a stroke in 2010, Obama offered the family financial support. Obama also gave an emotional eulogy at Beau’s funeral.

At his last White House Correspondents dinner in April, Obama gave a heartfelt thank you to his VP. The president said:

“I want to thank him for his friendship, for his counsel, for always giving it to me straight, for not shooting anybody in the face.”

Of course he had to sneak in a jab at Dick Cheney.

The close friendship between the president and the vice president has been one of the public’s favorite things about the Obama presidency. But there is no doubt that these two will remain close even after their term is over. After all, Joe did say:

“Best friends forever.”
