Social media has been a huge part of this election. The Republican nominee, Donald Trump, seems to live on Twitter. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Democratic presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton have joined in on occasion.
A variety of hashtags have been used throughout the campaign. Most of them are against Trump because it is just so easy to ridicule him. Some of the funniest political comments out there are on Twitter
Shannon McGregor, a researcher at the University of Texas’ Twitter Research Group, told TIME magazine:
“When there’s a lot of information, this sort of ‘who’s winning, who’s losing’ narrative is a … cue to who I should pay attention to. So in some ways social-media metrics, to the extent that the public is being exposed to them, can help them in that way. It’s more information that they have about what’s going on out there in terms of the election and in terms of how other people are feeling about it.”
Now, there is a great new hashtag trending on Twitter today. #BetterFictionalCandidates is trending and people are posting about which fictional characters that they would vote for. Many people are just frustrated with this election.
Here are some of the great tweets that this hashtag is producing:

One of the best Twitter moments of the election was when Hillary Clinton took down the Donald with three words. He was trying to poke fun at her because President Barack Obama endorsed her.
Trump said:
Obama just endorsed Crooked Hillary. He wants four more years of Obama—but nobody else does!
