WATCH: WikiLeaks’ Assange Threatens Release Of Another Eye-Opening Email Leak

The founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, appeared on Anderson 360 on Friday night to boast about his website leaking thousands of Democratic National Committee emails. He also claimed they have much more information to release about Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic party.

The email leak was purposely timed for the beginning of the Democratic National Convention. Assange had this to say:

“That’s when we knew there would be maximum interest by readers, but also, we have a responsibility to … If we published after, you can just imagine how outraged the Democratic voting population would have been. It had to have been before.”

The published emails on WikiLeaks wreaked havoc on the Democratic National Committee and sent party higher-ups scrambling. They showcased instances of Democrats showing clear bias toward Clinton over her rival, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). This caused even more unrest among Bernie supporters, including open protests at the DNC.

The WikiLeaks release also led to the abrupt resignation of Democratic Party Chairman, Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

Cooper pressed Assange, who has previously criticized Clinton:

“There is a question whether you have a personal animus toward Hillary Clinton. You criticized her on a number of issues. You gave an interview to the British network back in June, suggesting you are more concerned about Clinton at least in terms of press freedom than Donald Trump. Do you stand by that? Is this based on a personal animus?”

Trump suggested strengthening libel laws to make it easier to sue news media outlets, so it seems doubtful that Clinton would be more dangerous to the press. Assange downplayed Cooper’s claim that the WikiLeaks release was a personal attack on Clinton:

“I never said I wanted to do harm to Hillary Clinton… It was the presenter that used that term.”

Most experts believe that the email hack was perpetrated, or least funded, by the Russian government. Donald Trump called for Russian hackers to continue attacking the Clinton campaign, although he later stated that he was only joking. Assange claims WikiLeaks is in possession of much more information related to the Clinton campaign, and told Cooper, “Those are very interesting.”
