WATCH: Bernie Sanders Lays Out The Reasons Donald Trump Is ‘Dangerous’

Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders said last night, is a danger to the United States and must be defeated in November at all costs.

Appearing on the HBO show “Real Time With Bill Maher” Friday evening, the Senator from Vermont called Trump “dangerous” and also described the GOP nominee as the “most dangerous presidential candidate in the modern history of this country.” Sanders then added:

“I say that, not just because of his absurd views on so many issues.

“This guy is running his entire campaign based on bigotry. Based on trying to divide us up, based on trying to insult Mexicans, Latinos and Muslims and women and African Americans.”

Sanders also reminded viewers that Trump’s malevolence goes back much further than his current bid for the White House: He was also the leader of the “birther” movement which sought to delegitimize President Obama, the first African-American Chief Executive in American history.

And Sanders pledged his full support to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. While he acknowledged the two rivals had disagreed on some issues over the course of the campaign, Sanders remarked:

“What I intend to do, the day after Hillary Clinton is elected President of the United States, is to do everything I can to make sure she goes forward as progressively as she can.”

The latest comments from Sanders are in line with what he said this week at the Democratic National Convention. On Monday evening, the Senator noted:

“If you don’t believe that this election is important, if you think you can sit it out, take a moment to think about the Supreme Court justices that Donald Trump would nominate and what that would mean to civil liberties, equal rights and the future of our country.”

That indeed is the most sobering thought of all: a Supreme Court composed of justices appointed by a man as unstable as Donald Trump. We must all work to assure that never happens. Never.
