Harry Reid Admits Bernie Got Raw Deal From DNC – Still No Do-Over (VIDEO)

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told Huffington Post on July 27, 2016 that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) “never gave Bernie Sanders a fair deal.” After his address to the Democratic convention, Sen. Reid answered questions from the press.

One reporter asked whether the Democratic Party had a Plan B in case more damaging revelations disqualified Hillary Clinton. “No,” he answered.

Wasserman Schultz ‘Should’ve Resigned Sooner’

Reid continued that former DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz  “has always been good” to him, but he also said:

“As some people probably know, I thought Bernie deserved somebody that was not critical [toward] him. I knew—everybody knew—that this was not a fair deal.”

Certainly, many Sanders supporters noticed that the few dates on which debates were scheduled were likely to draw fewer voters, such as a weekend right before the Christmas holiday.

And as we reported recently, the DNC emails that WikiLeaks released revealed that upper management discussed using Sanders’s religion against him, assuming that Kentucky and West Virginia voters would be reluctant to vote for a Jew and even more hostile to an atheist. And other leaked emails showed that the DNC Chair and staff were hostile to Sanders and  tried to create the impression that his campaign was incompetent.

Reid also said that it was too bad Wasserman Schultz had to resign, but

“It was the right thing to do. She just should’ve done it sooner.”

Reid also noted,

“Bernie really had a movement out there. It wasn’t right to treat him that way.”

It’s easy for Senator Reid to speak up now that his term has less than six months left. Better late than never, but I wonder whether he spoke up when he first became aware that the party was treating his “forever friend” unfairly.
