The Speech We SHOULD Be Talking About: A War Widow Who Was Ripped Off By Trump U

There were many powerful and inspiring speeches on the first night of the Democratic National Convention, but perhaps the speech which best showed what a lowlife con artist Donald Trump truly is came from Cheryl Lankford. Lankford, whose husband died serving his country in the military, took the money she got from his insurance policy and used it to try and better herself by gaining more education and skills she could use to support her family. Sadly, she chose the now defunct Trump University.

Lankford began her speech by recalling the death of her husband:

“When you lose a spouse, you know that your life will change forever. You know that it won’t be easy. But I didn’t expect that on top of grieving the loss of my husband and trying to take care of my baby, I would also be the victim of a scam.”

But beyond just ripping her off, Lankford said the way Trump and his bogus university treated her had another, more painful consequence:

“By conning me out of the money the military gave me after my husband died, I felt like Trump University was disrespecting Jonathan’s memory.”

And Lankford then pointed out how the fact that Trump and his phony school would take advantage of her and thousands of others is an indictment of Trump’s character:

“Here’s a guy who was born rich and who has all the money in the world and there’s nothing wrong with that. In fact, I signed for Trump University because I thought I could learn something from him. But when he decided to make himself even richer by cheating working people who had nothing to spare. What kind of a man does that?”

Donald Trump is a professional grifter who will betray anyone to make a buck. He reminds me of something my paternal grandfather once told me:

“A man who will steal from you is the lowest form of person alive.”
