WATCH: Planned Parenthood Handed Out Condoms At The RNC

Planned Parenthood joined the protesters outside of the Republican National Convention (RNC). They were at the Code Pink table handing out condoms.

Republicans really hate Planned Parenthood. Last year, we had a ridiculous conspiracy against Planned Parenthood. A pro-life group made some highly doctored videos that make it look like Planned Parenthood was harvesting baby parts. Multiple investigations proved that these videos lied.

Erica Sackin, Planned Parenthood Votes director of political communications, was passing out condoms to people at the RNC.

Cosmopolitan reporter, Prachi Gupta, spend some time with Sackin at the Planned Parenthood table. Sackin had this to say about her experience there:

“A lot of people say, ‘I’m married, no, thank you, I don’t need them.'”

“…But a lot of people have been coming up to us and saying, ‘Thank you, we’re glad to see you here.’ It’s been a refreshing thing to see how many Republican delegates are coming up to us and telling us that they support Planned Parenthood and that they support access to sex education and access to birth control and access to contraception.”

These were not just any condoms. They had special messages on them:

One young Republican in the group , 19-year-old Ciera Ciez, praised Planned Parenthood’s efforts. She said:

“People definitely need better sex education. It’s definitely important in terms of preventing STDs and pregnancies before people are ready for that kind of stuff, and I don’t think that states really advocate for the kind of sex education that would prevent unwanted diseases and pregnancies.”

This is encouraging to me. I like to see some sane words coming out of Republicans. Gupta said they saw very few Republicans actually supporting their party’s horribly extreme views. Most of the people that they talked to are okay with sex education and contraception. Many of them were pro-life, but that’s to be expected at the Republican Convention.
