Serial Flag Burners Ignited The Crowd Outside The RNC

On the third day of the Republican National Circus Convention, the real action happened outside. Thousands of protestors and counter protestors — so more protestors, all gathered outside the convention. There was a mass of different crowds all yelling about something.

But the media spotlight today goes to the self described Revolutionary Communist Party. Current seats in any position of government, zero. Big surprise there.

Meet the Flag Burners

At around 4 o’clock, a man named Gregory “Joey” Johnson pulled out an American Flag from his backpack. Standing in the midst of a crowd filled with police and other protestors, the man began to light the fire. The end of the flag caught fire for a few moments before being extinguished.

Surrounded by chants of “America was never great,” the man fumbled around before an officer sprayed him with an extinguisher. The officer can be heard on the video stating, “Hey stupid, you’re on fire.” Following this display of nonsense a melee broke out leaving 17 protestors arrested, himself included.

It’s got to be hard burning flags in a sea of people. Luckily for the revolutionaries, they had a few more of their contemporaries attempting to burn flags. See for yourself here this woman’s attempt.

Oh, what a shame. She almost had it. After all, Gregory Johnson has been attempting to burn American flags in front of Republican Conventions since 1984. Seems like he just can’t get the hang of it.

In the 1989 case of Texas v. Johnson, the ruling was in his favor which invalidated laws that prevented the destruction of American flags in 48 out of 50 states. It’s too bad he didn’t have that law printed out to show the officers.

The first time Johnson burned the flag him and other protestors chanted:

“Reagan, Mondale, which will it be? Either one means World War III.”

Man, better luck next time guys. If the whole revolutionary overthrow doesn’t work out, I’m sure the local cheer squad is holding try outs. See this cluster in all of its glory as these protestors prove their just as incompetent as the people they’re protesting.
