To be honest, I had never heard of Niceguy Eddie or RainbowRadio.fm. But when Eddie contacted me, there was just something about his description of the discussion he wanted us to have which was so appealing. Even though Eddie is agnostic, he wanted to interview me, a pastor, to create bridges of understanding based on the things we agreed upon rather than focusing on the walls of differences which separate our beliefs. It is exactly the type of conversation which I believe our society is desperate for, so I said yes.
Eddie was honest about how he didn’t agree with my religious beliefs, and pushed me on some issues on which Christianity has been called to task most recently. But he also allowed me to talk about how the Christianity which often makes the news, is not the Christianity which most of us follow.
I was nervous about being on air, and now the world can hear for themselves that I am as southern as my country drawl sounds, but it was wonderful to talk to someone who shares my deep values, and discuss ways in which people of different beliefs can still work together for the good of this society.
