While Trump has danced dangerously close to racism throughout his presidential campaign, by feigning ignorance of his endorsements by the KKK and by retweeting white supremacists, an exposé in the Washington Post has uncovered something a bit more obvious and disgusting. They have uncovered some of Trump’s blatantly racist and anti-Semitic statements about African-Americans and Jews.
The report cites some of the most disgusting racist comments one is liable to utter. The only thing missing here is his use of the “N-word.”
According to the report, Trump told then president of the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, John O’Donnell:
“I’ve got black accountants at Trump Castle and at Trump Plaza — black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day. Those are the kind of people I want counting my money. Nobody else.”
If after reading that you feel like you need to go shower off the filth, you better just wait, it gets worse. Trump continued:
“Besides that, I’ve got to tell you something else. I think that the guy is lazy. And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is; I believe that. It’s not anything they can control.”
Let that sink in. The GOP has nominated as their candidate for the highest office in the land, a man who once said about black people that laziness is a “trait.”
As if indolence is genetic. Trump’s scientific ignorance is well documented, but that he would let that ignorance excuse, or perhaps even fuel, his racism is nauseating.
Trump defenders will likely point to the very small handful of African-American supporters that he has managed to court as some “proof” that he is not racist. But anyone with eyes, ears, and a functioning healthy brain should be able to easily sift through the lame canard.
Donald “look at my African American” Trump is a racist. On the list of national leaders the country needs to help heal our racial divides, he is surely near the very bottom.
With this report the truth is laid bare. The man has serious personal issues and needs help.
