Hilarious: Colbert Finds Lone Black Delegate At GOP Convention (VIDEO)

Oh, man. Leave it to Stephen Colbert to remind us that in spite of how terrified we all are at the prospect of a Donald Trump presidency, the current political situation is still pretty hilarious.

A recent poll by NBC News/Wall St. Journal/Marist Polls found that Donald Trump has 0 percent support among black voters in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

That is correct. No support at all among blacks. My goodness, what a surprise.

The Huffington Post reports that Stephen Colbert set out to find at least one African-American delegate at the Republican Convention.

He found a guy with a big grin and a goofy hat. Perfect, right?

Colbert’s lone Black delegate turned out to be comedian Keegan Michael Key, of Key and Peele fame.

The bit starts with Colbert introducing the lone black convention delegate as Frank Walters. He interviews the man who turns out to be completely innocent.

“Walters” tells Colbert that he’s just so happy to be at the big event, saying that everyone was welcoming and friendly.

Colbert digs in a little, saying:

“Frank, you’re an African-American….”

Frank quips back with the words:

“So they tell me!”

You need to watch the whole clip to see for yourself how Colbert manages to completely mock the Trump campaign and get us to laugh at the bigotry. Suffice it to say that it’s worth your time to enjoy Keegan Michael Key as he shows just how happy he is to be there with all the nice folks. Grateful for the hat and the shirt, enjoying the upbeat vibe.

It’s also worth watching the clip to remind ourselves how completely offensive and racist Trump’s views are. This could have been a real situation. This could certainly have been Donald Trump pointing out “my African-American over there.”

Before we cast our votes, and while we are talking to our undecided friends and family, it’s worth keeping this funny bit in mind. The days of the stereotypical “happy darkies” might be just what all those Trump folks are thinking when they say, “Make America Great Again.”

By the way, the ending of the video is Frank Walters’ way of giving the Republicans the finger, so don’t be afraid to watch.
