Trump Crew Uses Unbelievable Defense To Answer Plagiarism Charges (VIDEO)

By now everyone is aware that Melania Trump was thrust into the Republican Convention limelight with a plagiarized speech in her hand.

What people might not know, though, is how hilariously awkward it was for the Trump surrogates who were supposed to be brushing aside all the criticism.

It was deliciously painful to watch them on the various news shows, contorting themselves into pretzels as they tried to explain away the matching speeches.

The Huffington Post has a perfect example of the ridiculousness of the Trump campaign’s false indignation. In an interview with MSNBC, Republican National Committee communications director Sean Spicer was reduced to using the “My Little Pony” defense.

I am not kidding!

He claimed that Melania’s convention speech hadn’t copied Michelle’s at all, but had simply used familiar phrases that could be found almost anywhere. He said that a simple google search of the phrases in the speech would yield all kinds of results.

With a completely straight face, Spice looked at his notes and said:

“Melania Trump said, ‘You work hard for what you want in life.’ Akon said, ‘Work hard for what you get in life.’ John Legend said, ‘Work hard.’”

That wasn’t the best part, though. When the MSNBC interview asked incredulously if Spicer was really referencing Akon and John Legend, he answered:

“Hold on, it’s getting better. Melania Trump said, ‘The strength of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.’ Twilight Sparkle from ‘My Little Pony’ said, ‘This is your dream, anything you can do in your dreams.”

Good God, the poor man.Whatever he’s being paid to go on national TV and quote “Twilight Sparkle,” it isn’t enough.

I have to wonder how it feels for the Mrs. Trump to be accused of plagiarizing the words of the enemy. However that feels, I would imagine that it would feel even worse to be defended through a comparison to a cartoon horse.

Poor Sean Spicer. He had to go through the same garbage on CNN. Listen to how stressed he sounds:
