Almost No One Showed Up For The RNC ‘Women For Trump’ Event

The Republican National Convention featured a “Women For Trump” event on Monday. The problem? Hardly anyone showed up.

Journalist Laurie Penny tweeted a photo of the room just as the event was starting. You can see that the room is filled with mostly empty chairs. Penny adds that the people in the audience are other journalists, not Trump supporters.

Another journalist, Oliver Laughland of The Guardian, also tweeted a picture of the pathetically empty room. He added that with no questions coming from the minuscule audience, the members of the panel were asking questions to themselves.

Trump has struggled to win approval from women, and it’s not hard to figure out why. Trotting out his wife and daughter to speak on his behalf and claim that he is a “feminist” has not counteracted Trump’s abhorrent words and actions towards women.

Donald Trump has used words like “dog,” “fat pig,” “bimbo,” and “piece of a**” to describe women. Donald Trump also once gave an interview where he was asked whether his infant daughter Tiffany took after him or his wife, Marla Maples. His response was that Tiffany had his wife’s legs, and that time would tell whether she would get his wife’s breasts.

Trump has stated that women should be punished for having abortions, and he just chose Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his running mate. Pence is one of the fiercest abortion opponents in the country.

And let’s not forget that three different women have filed legal claims of sexual assault against Donald Trump. One of these lawsuits was filed just a month ago, and the plaintiff claims that she was just 13 at the time she was raped by Donald Trump.

It is abundantly clear why this Women for Trump event was a flop. Donald Trump abides by this philosophy: “Women: you have to treat them like s***.” No matter how much he tries to deny saying those words, women are not buying what Donald Trump is selling.
