Fans Of The 90s Movie ‘The Big Lebowski’ Can Now Practice ‘Dudeism’ (VIDEO)

Are you tired of all of the arguing in religions? Do you just want to chill out with a White Russian?  Well, I have a new religious philosophy for you. It is called ‘Dudeism,’ and it is based around the character of “The Dude” in the 90s movie The Big Lebowski.

The movie was made in the ’90s and has become a cult classic. In the movie, “The Dude” Lebowski is mistaken for a millionaire Lebowski. “The Dude” gets harassed by thugs who mistake him for The Big Lebowski. It is a funny and quotable movie.

From the Dudeism website:

“Down through the ages, this “rebel shrug” has fortified many successful creeds – Buddhism, Christianity, Sufism, John Lennonism and Fo’-Shizzle-my-Nizzlism. The idea is this: Life is short and complicated and nobody knows what to do about it. So don’t do anything about it. Just take it easy, man. Stop worrying so much whether you’ll make it into the finals. Kick back with some friends and some oat soda and whether you roll strikes or gutters, do your best to be true to yourself and others – that is to say, abide.”

They are selling a philosophical book called the “Tao of Dudeism.” It is loosely related to Buddhist and Taoist philosophy. You can be ordained as a Dudeist minister for free as well.

There are also some fun meme generators and other gadgets in their fun and games page. You can print out a certificate if you choose to get ordained as a Dudeist minister.

The have a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page for this. This is the answer to the question, “Is Dudeism a real religion?”

“Although Dudeism makes use of a lot of humor and satire, we are totally serious in our belief that it is ‘the religion for its time and place.’ Or, we’re as serious as anyone can be about a ‘belief.’ One of the core tenets of Dudeism is that everything is ‘just, like, your opinion, man’ and so everything has to be up for debate. Unlike other religions, we’re open to suggestions. In this way, Dudeism could be considered an ‘open source religion.’ We invite other people to tell us what they think is ‘dude’ or ‘undude.'”

The Dude himself (Jeff Bridges) had this to say about the religion:
