The MASTER Is BACK — Just In Time For The RNC (VIDEO)

Tread lightly, Donald Trump! Vulture just reported amazing news for lovers of political satire, and fans of Jon Stewart in particular. Stewart is finally returning to the political commentary arena to help Stephen Colbert cover the Republican National Convention (RNC) next week.

Stewart’s exact role is not known yet, but since Colbert is anchoring the The Late Show with Stephen Colbert from New York, Stewart will likely be on location in Cleveland as a correspondent at the RNC.

This would be a reversal of the days when Stewart was hosting The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Colbert was a correspondent. This was before Colbert took over The Late Show from David Letterman last year.

However, it’s also possible that Stewart’s visit this upcoming Monday will be no more than a quick cameo. He’s done it before on his former correspondents’ shows which they are now hosting.

We’ve seen Stewart on The Late Show with Stephen ColbertThe Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. Stewart currently serves as an executive producer on The Late Show.

These visits have taken place since Jon Stewart left Comedy Central’s The Daily Show in the spring of 2015. Without a show of his own, but with important messages to spread such as the veteran’s fight for healthcare access, he was able to use valuable airtime on these shows. Soon he will have secured airtime of his own.

Stewart has announced an upcoming project with HBO. No details are yet known of that project except that his contract with them runs through 2020.
But for now Stewart fans, don’t miss Monday’s edition of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

It airs at 11:35 p.m. EST on CBS, and it’s said that Stewart will stay on The Late Show for two weeks in order to be able to cover the Democratic National Convention the following week. Vulture’s article wraps it up nicely:

“Jon Stewart + Stephen Colbert + Republican National Convention = is it Monday yet?”
