‘Unholiness’: Christian Rock Star Comes Out As Gay, And The Ex-Gay Therapist Peeps Are FREAKING Out (VIDEO)

Christian rock singer Trey Pearson of the religious based band Everyday Sunday came out with a statement this past weekend admitting to trying for years to not be gay.

In a letter penned by Pearson for his friends and family, he spoke openly and emotionally about his struggle with being a Christian and hiding who he is for so many years. Pearson wrote,

“Most of us reach at least one pivotal moment in our lives that better defines who we are. These last several months have been the hardest—but also have ended up being the most freeing months—of my life. To make an extremely long story short, I have come to be able to admit to myself, and to my family, that I am gay.”

Though the LGBT community met Pearson’s coming out with open arms, the Christian Right was not so accepting of his confession.

For years the Christian Right pushed Christians who admitted to being gay, or same-sex attracted as the anti-gay activists like to refer to members of the LGBT community, into ex-gay therapy.

However, recently the fight to push these camps has lessened by the Right and Christians who come out are choosing celibacy instead.

After Pearson’s shocking letter to his family, including his wife of twenty years, anti-gay activists began their attacks. Columnist Michael Brown recently wrote a statement about Pearson’s letter stating,

“The reality is that Trey has made a tragic, destructive choice. He has found his identity in his romantic attractions and sexual desires rather than in his relationship with God, and he has decided that personal fulfillment is more important than obedience to the Savior.”

The pressure from the Christian Right that the LGBT community endures leaves many to lead a life that they know is not based on who they are.

Hiding who they are, men and women are living lives, marriages, and having children all surrounded by a web of lies, and all in the name of God.
