UNITY: Bernie Sanders Gives Full-Throated Endorsement Of Hillary Clinton (VIDEO)

Today in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the Democratic Party was finally unified when Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders gave his full endorsement to presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton and vowed to work with her to defeat Donald Trump in the general election.

Sanders began his remarks by acknowledging that the former Secretary of State had indeed won the nomination:

“I have come here to make it as clear as possible why I am endorsing Hillary Clinton and why she must become our next president. Secretary Clinton has won the Democratic nomination and I congratulate her for that.

“I intend to do everything I can to make certain she will be the next president of the United States.”

For her part, Clinton thanked Sanders and said Democratic unity had been achieved:

“I can’t help but say how much more enjoyable this election is going to be when we are on the same side. You know what? We are stronger together!”

Clinton aides are confident that Senator Sanders–who fired up the liberal base and won young voters by large margins during the primaries– will be and extremely potent asset against Trump and help Clinton energize liberal and progressive voters nationally.

Some Sanders supporters–most notably the so-called “Bernie or Bust” crowd, said they were still not convinced they would vote for Clinton. Marie Clark, a Sanders supporter from Laconia, New Hampshire remarked:

“I think people need to vote for something rather than against something. I want to vote for someone who has integrity, someone who has been consistent for 40 years. I will always support a political revolution.”

But Clark would appear to be in the minority with sentiments such as those. Recent polling shows that 81 percent of Sanders supporters say they intend to vote for Clinton in November.
