Powerful Cover Of New York Newspaper Perfectly Captures The Horror Of Alton Sterling’s Death

Yesterday in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, 37-year-old Alton Sterling, a father to five children, was shot dead by two police officers who said Sterling pulled a gun from his pocket as they were attempting to subdue and arrest him. Other reports indicate that Sterling was reaching for his cellphone.

The investigation into the death of Alton Sterling is being led by the FBI and Department of Justice. In time, perhaps we will know definitively why this man’s children are now without a father.

No matter what you may think of the Daily News and their cover, one thing is certain: It will not bring back Alton Sterling, and once again we are having a conversation we seem to start but never finish.
