WATCH: Mormon Sealing Ceremony And Other Rituals Are Off The Charts Creepy

In 2012, YouTuber newnamenoah made a video showing secret Mormon rituals. These are rituals that only members usually see. The first Behind the Veil” video showed them baptizing dead people. among other things. Generally, when they say “you have to be a member to see this,” it could be bad.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the Mormon church) doesn’t consider itself a branch of Christianity. Other Christian churches don’t consider Mormons Christian. Mormons believe  God was a man with a wife, and married couples can “progress” together to the afterlife.

Of course, when you hear about Mormons, we think of polygamy. The Mormons don’t practice that today:

“Polygamy was for decades practiced by Mormons, beginning with founder Joseph Smith, but only a few isolated groups of recalcitrant Mormon fundamentalists do so today.”

As far as baptizing the dead, they have this to say about that:

“Because all who have lived on the earth have not had the opportunity to be baptized by proper authority during life on earth, baptisms may be performed by proxy, meaning a living person may be baptized in behalf of a deceased person. Baptisms for the dead are performed by Church members in temples throughout the world. People have occasionally wondered if the mortal remains of the deceased are somehow disturbed in this process; they are not. The person acting as a proxy uses only the name of the deceased.”

The second video talks about a “Washing & Anointing” ceremony. They chant to “Elohim,” the exalted polygamist man. The women must wear veils over their faces. They also show a marriage ceremony, also known as a “Sealing Ceremony.”

The word “love” is never used.

They call themselves “Brother” and “Sister,” which sounds really creepy for obvious reasons. The girl is told to “give herself to him,” which is also creepy. Of course, they are told to “be fruitful and multiply.”

The washing ceremony is now symbolic, but they used to actually get naked and bathe each other in front of other people in the temple.

All religions chat to some extent, but these Mormon ceremonial changing is downright creeptastic and makes me worry about religions becoming cults.

Watch this video about Mormon religious rites to learn more, but be warned it’s creepy, and kids might need supervision:
