As a father, I know that nothing in the world means more to me than my daughter, Karina. And I also know that President Obama is an exemplary father to his two daughters, Malia and Sasha.
If anyone needed any further proof of just how much President Obama adores his daughters, it was provided yesterday when Malia turned 18. She will be taking a year off to travel abroad and then attend Harvard, but for just a moment yesterday, amidst all the hoopla over the Fourth of July, the President let it be known that what matters most to him is being a wonderful dad.
After he paid tribute to Independence Day and members of the military at home and abroad, President Obama said the country shares a birthday with his oldest daughter, and then he led the crowd in a beautiful musical tribute to Malia. It was nothing short of awesome and incredibly touching.
