OK, I swear you can’t make this stuff up!
There is a group in Texas that calls itself the Texas Nationalist Movement. They actually believe that it would a good idea for Texas to secede from the United States and become its own independent, sovereign nation.
Stop laughing.
RawStory reports that yesterday’s vote by Great Britain to withdraw from the European Union has been a source of inspiration for these people. They grabbed the word “Brexit”, which stands for “British Exit”, and made it their own.
Texans jumped onto social media where they’ve adopted the hashtag #Texit. They are going nuts on Twitter.

You have to love it! “If the Brits can do it, why can’t we?” Well, there’s the fact that they have a currency, an army, a set of trade deals in place……..
Watching a lawless Imperial Presidency and think there's no way out?#Brexit has shown us it's our choice! #Texit pic.twitter.com/IVD8Qdr2Ma

So awesome! We can assume that they’d take Ted Cruz (R-Tx) with them, right? And ol’ Rick Perry (R-Tx), too? Most of us would be OK with that.
Of course, Texas actually did this whole independence thing once before. It was back in 1835 when they staged a revolution to break free of Mexico. The Republic of Texas lasted on its own for about 9 years before it talked its way into the United States. By adding another slave state the U.S. moved itself toward the Civil War, but who cares? A minor bump in the road.
Those Texans want their freedom!
I wonder what will happen when Texas has another flood or set of severe storms? I wonder what will happen when Texas wants federal money to deal with a disaster, like they’ve done 4 times already this year?
Well, who knows. Daniel Miller, President of the Texas National Movement, doesn’t seem worried. He said:
“The vast majority of the laws, rules and regulations that affect the people of Texas are created by the political class or unelected bureaucrats in Washington.”
So who is going to run the place after y’all secede? No politician or bureaucrats, that’s for sure!
And then there’s this:

Well, sure. Because it’s all about size, right?
There were a few fabulous comebacks, of course. Twitter can be a very funny place.

Reading these comments. ??Ya'll… Ok Texas go for it.
We won't fight you as long as we get to keep Beyoncé #Texit

Good luck, Texas. Just be careful. If you actually do break off from the United States, we might just have to invade you for all that oil.
