Look Who Just Joined Snapchat — Michelle Obama!

Our lovely First Lady, Michelle Obama, joined Snapchat. She already uses Twitter @FLOTUS. She tweeted the news earlier today. She also uses Instagram and Facebook.

Snapchat lets you send short videos and pictures to your friends. Snapchat messages disappear after a certain amount of time.

Now that she is on Snapchat, she will be sending out Snaps of her daily activities in the White House. She will also share things about the events that the Obamas attend during the year.

Her press secretary, Joanna Rosholm, said that Michelle Obama launched her Snaphcat to directly interact with more young people.

For those of you following her, she is taking a trip to Africa and Europe starting next week. She will be going to Liberia, Morocco, and Spain with the Let Girls Learn initiative. Her daughters and her mother will be joining her on this journey. Our First Lady will be meeting with girls there to meet with young girls who are trying to get an education.

She will present her trip in a Snapchat story.

Let Girls Learn is a charity founded by the President and the First Lady. They help girls that are having a hard time getting an education. According to their About page:

“Let Girls Learn combines the necessary political will, diplomacy, grassroots organizing, and development expertise to create lasting change.”

“Let Girls Learn elevates existing programs and invests in new efforts to expand educational opportunities for girls—including in areas of conflict and crisis. The initiative leverages public-private partnerships and challenges others to commit resources to improve the lives of adolescent girls worldwide. It also expands collaborations with experts and places particular emphasis on community-led solutions to help adolescent girls complete their education.”

Here is some Twitter commentary about her joining Snapchat:
