New York Times: Trump May Be Too Broke To Campaign

We woke up to some great news this morning, that Donald Trump had fired his campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski. The campaign released this statement:

“The Donald J. Trump Campaign for President, which has set a historic record in the Republican Primary having received almost 14 million votes, has today announced that Corey Lewandowski will no longer be working with the campaign. The campaign is grateful to Corey for his hard work and dedication and we wish him the best in the future.”

Apparently the Trump campaign is not functioning well:

The New York Times released a statement this morning saying that the Trump campaign may be failing financially. They also said that Mitt Romney was broke at this point in his campaign in 2012. That race was closer than the race between Trump and Clinton.

Trump’s campaign has not released a paid ad since being named the presumptive nominee on May 3. He has been unwilling to ask the high-rolling Republican donors for money.

In contrast, Hillary Clinton is cranking out the advertisements in swing states. These states – Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, and Virginia – were states that Obama won in his elections.

Clinton’s Super PAC, Priorities USA Action, is planning to air tons of ads in these states up until the election.

Trump’s campaign has told the Senate Republicans that he doesn’t have enough money to hit back against the barrage of Clinton ads against him. One GOP source said:

“They know that they’re not going to have enough money to be on TV in June and probably most of July, until they actually accept the nomination and get RNC funds, so they plan to just use earned media to compete on the airwaves.”

Trump’s poll numbers have been dropping since he has dogged the judge in his Trump University lawsuit. Trump said that he believes the race wasn’t going to begin until after the Republican National Convention in July.

Here is a CNN video about how Trump is “self-funding” his campaign:
