Chris Christie (R-NJ) is about to feel the wrath of liberals in New Jersey. According to Time, a new non-profit group calling itself “Bridges Over Politics for New Jersey” is targeting the Governor with pointed and pretty funny ads.
After ending his own presidential campaign, Christie jumped right on the Trump train. He endorsed the Donald with enthusiasm, and appeared at several of Trump’s press conferences.
Most famously, Christie introduced Trump at one speech in late February, then stood back as the orange one spoke to the crowd. Christie’s facial expressions and body language showed a man who appeared to be on the verge of either bursting into tears or vomiting. Perhaps both.
Twitter had a field day poking fun at Christie’s obvious discomfort.

Quite a few tweets claimed that Christie was being held hostage. Others referred to his silent scream, to his realization of his own mortality and to the way he sold his soul. The hashtag #freeChrisChristie took over Twitter.

Bridges Over Politics for New Jersey has taken full advantage of Christie’s obvious unhappiness standing there behind Trump. The ads use screenshots from those press conferences and have added language that urges Christie to speak out against Trump’s frightening language.
One ad, shown in the tweet below, has a shot of a grinning Donald Trump soaking in the limelight at a rally. Behind him, looking like a hound dog that’s just been kicked, stands poor sad Chris Christie. A speech bubble coming out of Christie’s mouth has the word “HELP.”

The ads urge Christie to:
“Speak out against racism, sexism and bigotry, don’t stand behind it.”
Christie’s spokespeople are hoping to brush off the ads, saying:
“What’s sad is that anyone would give this a second look.”
Unfortunately for Governor Christie, a lot of people are giving the ads second and even third looks. In the first place, Christie’s hangdog expression is absolutely priceless.
In the second, the ads make a great point. It’s time for ethical leaders of both parties to stand up to Donald Trump’s hateful, dangerous rhetoric.
