A bomb was detonated at a woman’s bathroom at a Target in Chicago suburb, Evanston, Illinois. The police are not completely sure if this is related to the outcry over Target’s trans-friendly bathroom policy.
The police Commander Joe Dugan said that no one was in the bathroom when the bomb exploded. It was made with a plastic bottle, but it did not have any nails or shrapnel in it like the Boston Marathon bomb. It caused minor damage, but no one was hurt.
They have since arrested a suspect. They have not filed charges against the 44-year-old woman yet. The Cook County bomb squad was called around 4:10 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. The damage was limited to just one stall. The store remained open after the incident.
The news release said, in part:
“The detectives are not currently looking for any known additional suspects, and (at) this point there is no indication that the incident is related to any policies that the Target store has in place.”
Target’s CEO stands firmly in favor of transgender rights despite all of the anti-trans ugliness Republicans are spreading. The company announced that anyone can use the bathroom or fitting room that corresponds to their gender identity.
Over 1.3 million people have signed a petition from the American Family Association calling for people to boycott the store. There have been several stories of people going into Target to preach and protest.
The American Family Association even admitted to sending spies into Target bathrooms. They sent in men dressed like women.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time a Target has had to deal with bombs. The case in Illinois is the first bomb to actually explode at a Target. However, on May 14, a Target in Sacramento, California, was evacuated due to a bomb threat. The store was evacuated for a couple of hours, but no bomb was found.
I really hope the incident in Illinois doesn’t happen anywhere else.
