Ronald Reagan’s Son Talks Trump – And How Dad Might’ve Voted (VIDEO)

Today, California is holding its primaries. There won’t be too many people voting for the Republican frontrunner, Donald Trump (R-N.Y.), we hope. One person who definitely won’t be voting for Trump is one you may be surprised to hear about.

The son of former President Ronald Reagan (R-Calif.), Michael Reagan, tweeted yesterday that he will not vote for Trump:

Republicans love Ronald Reagan. Pat Robertson loved him so much that he said he wants the late president to rise out of his grave, and had quite the spiel about the late president:

“He believed in America, he believed in fundamental values and he wasn’t ashamed to enunciate them. The current president does not believe in America, he does not believe in the fundamental values, he was raised in a different environment entirely and his mentors have been leftists who don’t really love this country.”

Michael Reagan further tweeted about Trump:

Reagan was president from 1981 through 1989, and he died in 2004. Michael Reagan is president of the Reagan Foundation, which fights for issues his father cared about.

Michael Reagan had this to say about the current state of the GOP:

“But really, the GOP these days is no longer a legitimate political party. They’re not interested in governing anymore. My father certainly was. The idea of shutting down the government because you’re peeved about Planned Parenthood, that’s not a thought that ever would have crossed his mind. The idea of a few million dollars going to an organization like that that does a lot of good work for people should be a pretext to shut down the government would just be unthinkable to him.”

Republicans may have some kind of love affair with Ronald Reagan. He gets mentioned many times in Republican debates even now. It was not the fuzzy, happy time that the GOP paints it to be.

During Reagan’s presidency, his average approval rate was around 53-percent. In 1986, people thought that he should resign before his term ended. This was because of the Iran-Contra scandal at the time.

Reagan was caught exchanging arms for prisoners, and he used the proceeds to fund Nicaraguan rebel fights.

Somehow, today’s Republicans seem to have forgotten about these things. They still think Reagan was the best president ever.
