Bud Light Releases LGBT Ad – And The Bigots’ Heads Explode (Video)

June is the designated month to celebrate the contributions and unique experiences of LGBT folk. On June 1st, Bud Light decided to jump into the fray by releasing an advertisement that spotlights the gay community. Bud Light underlined marriage equality by creating special ads and sponsoring rainbow-tinted ads throughout New York City and Los Angeles.

Like clockwork, the bigoted internet raised its hammer of fanaticism and tried to mar this brilliant ad. There have been calls to boycott Bud Light because apparently the company is pushing interracial marriage and gay marriage. Some are straight to the point and note that Bud Light is now for f*gs – which is apparently a viable reason to avoid a particular brand of beer. Some protesters are so pompous and arrogant, that they think that the whole heterosexual demographic will pull away from Bud Light, with the preconceived notion that Bud Light won’t survive by marketing beer to the limited audience of sexual minority groups.

LGBT Ads Throughout The Years

IKEA was one of the first major corporations to release an ad that featured a gay couple in 1994. A couple of decades later, and LGBT ads are quickly becoming the norm. From being front and center, or casually gleaning over gay influences in a particular ad, the LGBT community has found a new home in advertising dollars.
