The Libertarian Party has picked their nominee, former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson. His running mate is former Massachusetts Governor Bill Weld. They, of course, are speaking out against Donald Trump and his ideas that are “just racist.” Libertarian activists are saying they could play a key role in the 2016 election since Trump and Clinton are both hated by many voters.
From the Libertarian party’s platform:
“We, the members of the Libertarian Party, challenge the cult of the omnipotent state and defend the rights of the individual.
We hold that all individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live in whatever manner they choose.”
They have some great ideas, but their candidate for chairman has given them a bad name this week. At the convention, they just randomly started playing music, the audience was clapping, and the guy was stripping. He gets an epic chorus of boos from them. James Weeks has obviously dropped out of the race.
He said it was because of a dare. Not everyone was horrified, a couple of people ran up on stage and put money in Weeks’ thong. However, there are those that weren’t amused.
A man in the audience yelled:
“Get off the stage! You’re making an ass of yourself!”
His Facebook page is flooded with comments. Many of those are complaining about the negative attention he brought to the party.
For example, Daphne Riggs said:
“You made a fool of yourself. You also made a decision that hurts the Libertarian Party movement. You should be taking this more serious. SMH”
Morgan Rigg said:
“What were you thinking? How did you think there would be any benefit from your ‘performance’? Were you actually thinking about the consequences? Were you thinking at all?”
The other candidates are pretty ridiculous, too. Maybe this will get people to consider third party candidates. He’s better looking than Trump.
