Police Officer Trained In Jiu-Jitsu Subdues Unarmed Suspect Without Shooting Him (VIDEO)

Over recent years, videos of police brutality and shootings of unarmed suspects have become as commonplace as cute cat videos on the internet. Far too often, officers lose control of a situation and escalate their use of force too drastically because they feel endangered.

Many, if not most, of these incidents do not stem from pre-meditated malicious intent from by the police, but rather a lack of training and confidence. Often, an officer fears losing control of a situation, thereby turning it into a life or death situation. But what would it look like if officers had the type of tools they need to defend themselves and subdue the suspect without bringing undo harm to the suspect as well as themselves?

This video gives the perfect example of what a well-trained officer can do against a non-compliant, violent suspect.

Watching the video, some people would complain that the officer was throwing punches and using elbow strikes. However, as explained in the video, the use of strikes in that situation served a practical purpose. By striking from what is called the “mounted position,” the officer was about to keep the suspects hands busy defending punches, while not being able to reach for any weapons held by either the suspect or the officer.

The officer also stayed relatively calm and didn’t lose his temper. You even hear him trying to deescalate the situation while wrestling with the suspect.

Here’s another video which illustrates how dangerous a suspect under the influence can be for police and why too many untrained officers resort deadly force in many of these violent situations.

Having well-trained officers like the one in this video would benefit everyone.

Liberals are often labeled as being unfair critics of law enforcement whenever they use force, but in this case, the officer deserves to be commended and used as a positive example of what law enforcement can be.
